I love having my family home for the holidays. With every passing year, it becomes less about the festivities themselves and more about presence, togetherness, and fun. And then, as it always does, the house empties, and everyone returns to their own lives.
I’ve come to appreciate this moment just as much.
These precious days after the celebrations have ended and before the new year begins feel like sacred time to me. A natural pause. A chance to unwind from the busyness and return to a place of rest and reflection. I intentionally minimize commitments, leave open space to be in my own company, and allow my nervous system to reset. From that place, clarity emerges, and I begin to sense the year ahead taking shape. It’s a gift I give myself every year.
This year, I’ve been asking myself a simple but powerful question: What is the internal state that allows me to do my most impactful work—and how can I live from this place in the year ahead?
The word that emerged from this reflection is effortless.
I am at my best—most effective, most present, most impactful—when I’m in a state of flow, where things move with ease. I know that this internal state doesn’t happen by accident; it’s something I cultivate intentionally through daily practices. So my word for 2026 is effortless.
As you bring this year to a close, I invite you to join me in creating space for rest and reflection. What word or intention is emerging for you to carry into the new year?
